10th Annual Rock On The Range Wraps Sold Out Weekend With 120,000 In Attendance; Fest

Rock On The Range celebrated its 10th year May 20, 21 & 22 – and after a decade of setting the standard for American rock festivals, the crown jewel of the World’s Loudest Month shows no signs of slowing down. 120,000 “Rangers” from around the globe descended onMAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, OH to witness the first-ever Rock On The Range appearance by Red Hot Chili Peppers and the first live performance of their current single “Dark Necessities,” plus epic performances from Rob ZombieDisturbed and many more. The festival sold out over two months in advance, marking the fourth consecutive advance sell-out for Rock On The Range.

The largest and most acclaimed rock festival in the United States featured 60 performances in all on its three music stages, from a lineup also packed with rock royalty such as DeftonesShinedownFive Finger Death PunchBring Me The HorizonA Day To Remember,MegadethAt The Drive-In (one of their first shows since reuniting), Lamb Of GodSixx:A.M.Pennywise and more, along with rock's hottest developing artists. Special guest Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach also joined Disturbed on stage for a cover of Rage Against the Machine's “Killing In The Name.”

One of the most memorable and emotional moments of the weekend was the triumphant return to Columbus, OH by Vinnie Paul and his incredible band, Hellyeah. The feelings of respect and appreciation, from the sold-out crowd and producers alike, were palpable when he took the stage on Saturday to a thunderous ovation. It was his first appearance in Columbus since the tragic death of his brother more than 11 years earlier at a local club. Hellyeah’s set was an inspiration to every other artist performing at the festival.

In addition to its colossal music lineup, Rock On The Range featured more than a dozen of rock's favorite comedians in the ROTR Rolling Rock Comedy Tent — including Grammy-nominated Jay MohrBig Jay OakersonNate BargatzeCraig Gass, and Bethany DwyerRob Zombie, guitarist John 5, and Papa Roach vocalist Jacoby Shaddix joined Eddie TrunkDon Jamieson and Jim Florentine on stage in the Rolling Rock Comedy Tent for a special Saturday night “That Metal Show Live” (based on the VH1 Classic show). The Rock On The Range 10th Anniversary Photo Retrospective curated by photographer Rob Fenn gave fans a peek intoRock On The Range’s past, from its beginnings as a one-day festival to its evolution into a 3-day celebration of the rock community.

In honor of Rock On The Range’s milestone anniversary in the city of Columbus, the festival received awards of recognition from bothColumbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther and the City Council, as well as a resolution from the Franklin County Board of County Commissioners. These commendations acknowledge the over $140 million in economic impact the festival has contributed to the city over its 10 year existence.

In addition to enjoying the Rock On The Range massive music lineup, festivalgoers were able to meet their favorite bands at the Monster Energyf.y.e., and The Music Experience tents – and lived their own rock star fantasies while trying the latest gear at The Music Experience. Fans from around the world were able to go behind the scenes of Rock On The Range by watching live streaming backstage interviews presented by Alternative Press and SoundExchange. The archived interviews are available at the Alternative Press Facebook page and have already received over 250,000 views.

Rock On The Range and festival partner F-ck Cancer / Dyin 2 Live also worked with the Cleveland chapter of nonprofit organization A Special Wish to help create a very special weekend for a young cancer survivor who had the opportunity to meet some of her favorite bands including DisturbedRob ZombieFive Finger Death PunchJacoby Shaddix of Papa RoachBullet For My Valentine and more.
