Rock on the Range 2010 Comes to an End.. Til next Year.
Rock on th Range 2010 is now in it's 4th year. The only major Rock/Metal 2 day festival in the United States. We don't need Bonnaroo or Lollapalooza, in this music journalist opinin who believes that those events are nothing but a corporate slag for an music fest. (they should just say, no music press allowed, buy our music, photos and other stuff at our corporate web site). Metal fans want rock and metal, not a mix of music that does not challege a true metal head. Metal is music that has loyalty. Not some fairweather fan that changes his taste as the day goes on. If you want rock and roll, then head next year to Rock on the Range, otherwise you have Lolla....
Again the city of Columbus, Ohio, hosted fans from beyond the United States. Rock on the Range featured such bands as Apocolyptica all the way from Finland. Apocolyptica really surprised many folks by performing metal classics by Metallica on instruments other than guitars, but on cellos. These guys ripped the Moster Energy stage to start off Sunday just right... Australian party metal rockers Airbourne tore up the Kicker Stage. Airbourne were not the only guys who came to Rock on the Range way from down under, Rock on the Range also welcomed Violent Soho.
Saturday night finished with Godsmack and Sunday concluded with Limp Biskup of whom many thought they would never experience live.
Rob Zombie put on show that no one should miss... his vision of horror and comics is a fantasy that only Rob Zombie knows how to present his vision on to a stage. You can say my favorites that no one should have missed are FFDP, Five Finger Death Punch. Ivan Moody, stated to the fans, "The security is not your enemy", and to the working security team he stated similar, "the fans are not your enemy." He continued, "I want all of you to come to the stage and slap my hand." At that moment FFDP put the fans in metal state as hundreds of fans body surfed their way to the stage.
Over he weekend many let their prayers be heard to the Metal father Ronnie James Dio who passed away last week. Today, again we must bow our heads as we let another go... Rock on the Range veteran, Paul Gray, bassist from Slipknot passed away today, May 24, 2010. Rest in Peace our metal friends.
