AVN Adult Entertainment Expo (AVN/AEE) 2006: It's Sexy. It's Powerful. It's Business!

The 2006 (AVN) Adult Video News/Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) is held annually at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, NV. It is a four day extravaganza gathering many of the adult industry's major networks. The 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) was also held at the Sands Expo during the same time, making for a busy and crowded weekend indeed. (It is rumored that the adult video industry has contributed to both sales and the advancement of video technology).
This was the third year UnRated Magazine was on location covering this event. The 2006 UnRated AVN Exploration Team, including Adam Bielawski, Tom Bobis, Mike Harmon and myself, left for Las Vegas Thursday, January 4, 2006, night from Chicago. The team was split. Tom and I wanted to get an early start the morning of January 5, so around 8:00 am, without eating breakfast, we grabbed a cab and headed for the Sands Expo. As soon as we got out of the cab we saw fish-nets and mini-skirts everywhere. Mike H. met up with us shortly.
After a very quick and professional check-in procedure in the press room we made our way in. The security at the gate was tight and required a photo I.D. and a hand stamp. Once inside, it was quite the spectacle. We started off at the Metro Interactive exhibit where we ran into Eva Angelina and Ashley Steel. On Saturday Metro featured Ron Jeremy hanging out with the famed Bunny Ranch Boss Dennis Hof and Heidi Flies.
Then it was off to gonzo film and fan favorite Red Light District who featured 16 pornstars. We met with a few including the extremely sweet and lovely Cassie Courtland, Rita Fatoyano, Holly Wellin, Brianna Love, Penny Flame and Georgia Peach. Over at Wicked Pictures we ran into Kristen Price, Jessica Drake, Julia Ann and Keri Sable. Pure Play Media was smack dab in the middle and featured plenty of smiles from Mari Possa, Alexia Moore, Celleste Star, Crystal Gunns, Rebecca Love, Danielle Derek, Cousin Stevie and Seymore Butts.
There was a huge logo display from Kick Ass Productions which really caught my eye, along with Bianca Pureheart and Gen Padova. Evil Angel Productions featured Belladonna, Melissa Lauren, Ayana Angel and Taryn Thomas. Extreme 2.0 featured Gia Paloma, Paris Gables and Tom Byron. Collassal Entertainment: Sara Stone, Mika Tan and Brooke were on hand.
Smash Productions, is a leader in gonzo DVD's like "Cheating Housewives," "Whale Tale." Smash's spotlight centered around the popular Vicky Vette. The Smash ladies gave us a very warm welcome indeed. We chatted and sat with them for some comfortable staff pics. A special thanks to Tiffany Rayne, Christie Lee, Alana Evans, and Delilia Strong.
Over at Exquisite Multimedia we ran into SkyyBlack, Melodee Bliss, Layla, and Rodney Moore. Acid Rain featured Mya Luanna and Brooke Haven. We soon found ourselves surrounded by the girls of Platinum X Tori Lane, Hillary Scott, Bambi, Marquetta Jewel and Selina Silver. Heatwave productions featured Lola Lane, Kandi Kreame and Lady Armani. Madness Pictures featured Destiny and Niomi Marcela. JM Productions featured Ashley Blue, Missy Monroe, and Ana Devine. I definitely have to recognize the ladies of Elegant Angel Productions for their special hospitalities: Tiana Lynn, Kinzie Kenner, Hillary Scott, Flower Tucci and Sammie Rhodes.
The larger corporate companies spared no expense with their displays and seem take over the entrance to the show. Club Jena stole the show in 2005. This year they featured hotties like Ashton Moore, Corina Cross, McKenzie Lee, and Jessie Cappelli. However, I would have to say, without bias, that the AEE 2006 belongs to Digital Playground. Most due to the huge success of Pirates (2005) a three-disc set which features UnRated Magazine's first Vixen Jessie Jane, Janine, Carmen Luvana, Teagan Presley, Devon, Austyn Moore and Jenaveve Jolie. Sophie Santi made an appearance. Be sure to check out our photo gallery for these hot shots.
Powerhouse Vivid Entertainment Group featured stars such as Jenna Jameson, Lyndsey and Lacey Love, Tera Patrick and Brianna Banks. Adam and Eve's line-up featured the lovely and talented Nina Hartly, Carmen Luvanna, Austin Moore, Alexandria Silk and Charmaine. Pentouse Media showcased their playmates including Pet of the Year 2005 Martina Warren. New Sensations/Digital Sin hotties include the flexible Sunny Lane and new on the scene Naiomi. Hustler Magazine guru Larry Flint made his annual appearance, and the girls of Naughty America were posing for pictures in makeshift bedroom sets. What a weekend!
Many different varieties of adult-related products were exhibited, including church groups who brought "Wally the Wiener," a humongous 15' tall air-filled balloon in the shape of a penis. When we confronted the people responsible for bringing Wally to this event, they asked us if we would refrain from watching porn for a day or more. Right next to them was a booth that suggested "Jesus Loves Porn Stars." Many local brothels, including the famed "Chicken Ranch," shared the floor with exhibits featuring airbrush body painting, vibrators, a spring loaded dildo machine and plenty of lube and condoms companies. Hotmovies.com, Entice T.V and other Video On Demand websites were offering their specials However, the most interesting was a high quality, life-sized scientifically engineered silicone doll, so realistic it's scary (www.mechadoll.com).
If this event sounds like it's for you, I encourage you to check into going next year. You'll be surprised at the variety the adult entertainment industry has to offer, and you'll meet some interesting people too. My advice is to book your flight and hotel in advance to get the best deals. Hope to see you in 2007!
