With a fearless, take no shit attitude and a look which screams beautiful and fear, Butcher Babies faces the metal music industry with a big F YOU.
With the recent release of their phenomenal new album "Lilith,” I have always found the group Butcher Babies fierce, bad ass and ruthless. There is something about Heidi and Carla when they perform sends daggers down my spine with such harsh pain. Yet, makes me want to just stop standing and join in the gigantic circle pit.
I came to the Majestic Theater in Madison, WI expecting a thrilling ride of nonsense mayhem elevating to a point of maybe needing to stop at a mental hospital to collect my thoughts.
I am a fan of these two women. I am a fan of brutal honest metal kicked up with a notch of growling mixed with some #amazing harmonies. Yes.... Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey can do the snarling in hits like "Monsters Ball" and "Pomona (Shit Happens)." And they bring an element of having more balls than most men. However, these women can also sing.... Listen to "Headspin" and "Lilith." It's astounding and lovely.
Overall the performance in Madison was like watching two savage lioness hunting for their pray. No blood was shed. No one was terribly hurt and it was fucking hardcore.
