Alvvays @ SXSW
Alvvays @ SXSW - Pitchfork, House Of Vans
Northside Fest w/ Best Coast & Built To Spill
June Gigs And A Date with Belle & Sebastian
On Tour w/ Decemberists
Loads of exciting news from Alvvays! Hot off the heels of a New Yorker spring piece highlighting the band's headlining show at the legendary Bowery Ballroom and already slated for extensive string of dates with the Decemberists, the quintet today announces a slew of amazing SXSW showcases with the likes of Pitchfork, Hype Machine and more. What's more, they also would like to share freshly secured shows this spring with inspiring influences and exciting contemporaries like Belle & Sebastian, Best Coast, and Built to Spill.
The fuzz-pop quintet Alvvays had a breakout year in 2014 behind the critically acclaimed and fan adored self-titled debut. Released by Polyvinyl Records the album was produced by indie-guru Chad VanGaalen and mixed by Holy Fuck’s Graham Walsh as well as John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Kurt Vile.)
Comprised of Molly Rankin (lead vocals/guitar), Kerri Maclellan (keys/vocals), Alec O'Hanley (guitar), Brian Murphy (bass) and Phil MacIsaac (drums), Alvvays take the template laid out by the likes of Scottish stalwarts Teenage Fanclub, The Vaselines and Belle & Sebastian and fuse it with a strong sense of self and a unique personality. Each shimmering track on their debut full-length frames Rankin's melancholic melodies and unwavering voice with meticulous arrangements and needlepoint guitars.

Praise For Alvvays
"Each of the nine songs on the Torono band’s first LP is a sharply drawn indie-pop wonder, steeped in romance, wit and melody" -- Rolling Stone
"Over-analyzing, easygoing; reverb-infused, direct; nonchalant, plaintive: These aren't unprecedented musical pairings, but Alvvays wields them particularly well, tapping into a widely mined and instantly recognizable genre to create their juxtapositions." -- NPR
"Their aesthetics hover somewhere between the sun-drenched shores of California and the preppy Scottish countryside, as surf-pop riffs coast over singer Molly Rankin’s impassive voice which, at its most detached, resembles a starry-eyed Tracyanne Campbell" -- Pitchfork
"Wistfully jangly, bittersweet Brit pop. The quintet’s lo-fi sound pairs perfectly with Rankin’s breathy vocals to create guitar-driven confections sure to earn a place on your playlist" -- TIME Magazine
