Rock On The Range 2011 Celebrates Fifth Anniversary At Columbus Crew Stadium With 70,000 Music Fans

For the fifth consecutive year, ROCK ON THE RANGE turned Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio into the center of the rock universe last weekend (May 20-22). A record-breaking crowd of over 70,000 fans gathered at America’s premier destination rock festival to spend two days and three nights celebrating Where Rock Lives.
As succinctly described by the Columbus Dispatch (5-22-11), the festival “entertained thousands with a roster that ranged from obscure to chart topping and some incendiary music” and featured a three stage production that was “run with uncommon precision.” The 2011 ROCK ON THE RANGE kicked off with the free Fifth Anniversary Party on Friday night featuring over-the-top performances by Steel Panther and Lez Zeppelin. Saturday’s bill was highlighted by unforgettable sets from Avenged Sevenfold, Korn and Asking Alexandria, while A Perfect Circle, Disturbed, Puddle of Mudd, and A Day to Remember energized the crowd with their Sunday performances.
“Headlining Rock On The Range was an incredible experience,” says Avenged Sevenfold's frontman M. Shadows. “Two years ago, ROTR was the Rev's last U.S. show with us. But the amazing energy of the 35,000 fans at last Saturday's show reminded us how grateful we are to our fans for giving us the strength to keep going. And there were so many awesome bands; the day was a great one for rock fans.”
“The fact that 2011 marked our fifth anniversary for Rock On The Range already made it special for us,” commented Joe Litvag, co-executive producer of the festival for AEG Live. “Then to not only beat but crush our previous attendance record, that turned it into something I’ll never forget. From start to finish it was a perfect weekend.”
Spin.com commented that ROCK ON THE RANGE 2011 was “a mayhem-inducing metal festival” that “will surely go down as one of the gnarliest yet” and was a “welcomed change of pace.” Spin.com writer Reyan Ali went on to rave about his favorite festival moments, including Danzig’s performance, where “the crowd went bonkers” and during Disturbed’s set where “witnessing an unending stretch of hands moving in unison was pure spectacle.”
“The passion the Rangers have for their festival and the music they love was never more evident than what we experienced at ROTR 2011,” says Del Williams, co-executive producer of the event for Right Arm Entertainment. “It was an honor to be part of such an epic weekend.”
Disturbed’s David Draiman agrees: “It was a spectacle that will remain powerfully embedded in our minds for quite some time...”
Presented by Right Arm Entertainment, AEG Live and Crew Stadium, ROCK ON THE RANGE is a two-day, multi-stage music and lifestyle event featuring a potent lineup of bands on three stages. The nationally renowned festival centrally located in the heart of the country has annually drawn crowds in excess of 30,000 per day since its inception in 2007.
