On May 24th, MGM Home Entertainment will release PLATOON on Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack for the first time ever!

Platoon was a major hit when it came out, Oliver Stone name was on everyone's lips, it included a  great cast starring Charlie Sheen the clean cut college kid who narrates this flick, Tom Berenger a real grunt that won't let nothing stand in his way, and Willem Dafoe who is sick of the war and fighting. Dafoe role is the guys against bad cop Berenger's role.  This movie was not just shoot em up, but goes deep into the mind of the grunt in Vietnam, the horrors,  personal issues, racial issues, and just the killing in war. Platoon is  a excellent Vietnam War flick captured by one of the best big blockbuster directors, Oliver Stone.  The in your face battle film scenes really hit the movie goer, something probably not seen coming out of Hollywood during the time frame (1980s) . There were a lot of movies about Vietnam, but Stone brought the men of that war to the screen in full life. This in your face real trials of men and war was probably not seen again on the screen till the likes of Saving Private Ryan, more than a decade later.

Previous versions of Platoon on DVD just do not dive too much on the making of the movie, or anything related, all the extras in the Blu-ray will be an apple off the tree.  Memorial Day is not too far away, the Blu-Ray version of the movie will be a great way to start a WAR movie weekend off, I am one who just can not wait.  The Big Screen, The Sound System, man sit back young man and GO TO WAR!  ~Adam Bielawski

25 Years Later.... The First Casualty of Was Is Still Innocense
