Review by Adam Bielawski

The movie is fun for the kids as well as the whole family.  Who doesn't love a talking Chihuahua! The Beverly Hills Chihuahua is back, Papi  (George Lopez) and his love Chloe ((Odette Yustman) are back with a family to boot. Five adorable little pups named Aly, Lala, Pep, Rosa, and Papi Jr. No Drew Barrymore in the second installment of the movie who played the voice of Chloe in the first.  The pups are a handful and every parent can truly relate, as a new parent like Papi, the pressure is on. The trainers and folks who dressed these dogs up in costumes did some great work to make these little animals so well behaved and adorable on how they dressed them through the scenes in the movie.

One entertaining episode in this movie is when Papi is goes back to ancient Mayan days of the Chihuahua. A bold warrior king who has the whole city bowing the Chihuahua, the resemblance to Papi is uncanny.  The movie visualized it pretty good. I was hoping for a longer scene because it was so entertaining, taking the dogs from modern day to historical fantasy. In addition to the main story the movie takes us on more than one sub-story, about a German Sheppard, who is a n ex-Mexican police dog.  Who comes to our country and has to give up his pups for a better life.  His pups both become police dogs but won't talk to their father. The Sheppard turns out to be a hero and reunited with his family.

The plot is common theme in the news today, the bank is about to foreclose on the family home.  So all dogs start brainstorming how to help their human family keep the home. We have several villains in our movie; one is the evil banker, who gives the family very little if no time to GET OUT! I am pretty sure their might be some turning of legal facts in this situation. Going further in the story, the family enters the dogs in the Annual Beverly Hills dog show for a prize that should pay of the debt on the house.  Now we bring in our second villain, a Beverly Hills arrogant snob and her French poodle.  As the dogs were coming into the venue, the French poodle, in her high society ostentations voice says something, Papi makes a quick come back, "You know the first syllable in poodle is 'Poo'." Even the other Beverly Hills high society dogs laughed with just made the French pools snoot away. Nothing like a good funny comes back. That is probably my funniest moment in this movie.  The winner of this contest should have been Papi, but the French poodle's owner sabotaged the Papi's credentials.  Again, a little every day news making this movie…

The whole theme of this movie is that families stick together, through good and bad.  The best of times are always ahead of us so do not let some challenges detour the love that is a family.

There are some cool extra features including the sing along and a game.  However the best part I saw in my kids is that they loved the animals. Since we watched it all I can here is "Can we get a Chihuahua?"

Nothing like a talking Chihuahuas to put a smile on the whole family
