Sevendust, Chapter 7: Hope and Sorrow

Asylum Records – April 1, 2008
by Dustin Peters

On April 1st, 2008 Sevendust releases their 7th studio album appropriately titled Chapter VII Hope and Sorrow. Coming off of their heaviest album Alpha they seemed to loose their direction as a band, forcing the creation of music instead of living it and letting the creation flow. Not the case with Chapter VII, this is an all out assault of Sevendust at their best. The creativity and energy from this album I have not seen (or heard) since their 2001 release Animosity. From the opening song Inside to the closing of Walk Away, Sevendust lashes their sound and mind numbing courses throughout this album. With special guests Mark Tremonti (Hope), Chris Daughtry (The Past), and Miles Kennedy (Sorrow) are sure to make this one of Sevendust's strongest outings in the past years. I recommend picking this album up to add to your collection and if you have a chance, see the band live for an experience you will not forget.
