Do you play video games? First person shooters? Would you enjoy playing a capable and armed protagonist fighting his way through countless baddies to find clues to a mystery in a universe heavily inspired by Blade Runner?
Than maybe you'll enjoy this film. Firmly rooted in the same soil as Johnny Mnemonic, The Matrix and Ready Player One, this film tries to come close, but is ultimately disappointing. Like so many films of this type, Virtual Revolution is underdeveloped.
Too bad, too, because the film features some good acting, great action sequences, terrific music and some fairly good green screen work. But there is too little tension to drive the story forward--little humor, a small amount of underdeveloped sexual tension, and vague resolutions to plot lines.
One thing this movie really could have used would have been more development of the romantic relationship between Nash (the main character) his girlfriend to provide motivation for the plot. And I kept wishing they would spend more time developing story in the different virtual worlds the heroes explore. The title promises a “revolution”. But all you get from this one is a small whimper. Put this one back in the oven. It isn't quite done yet!
