Review by James Klein

It took two directors to work on this, huh? Once again, when a popular horror film makes it big, numerous imitations surface which don't even hold a candle to the film they are ripping off. Kill is just another low budget Saw rip-off and while the film makers try at times to do a few things original, there really isn't much going for this blatant attempt to create a Saw-type film.

A group of young 20 year olds wake up wearing white t-shirts and shorts in an apartment that none of them recognize. None of these people know each other and have no memory as to how they got in this room. As they yell and get on each others nerves right from the get go, they soon find strange clues around the house and realize that there are video cameras all over the rooms. When the group find a bunch of dead bodies of people who may have been in this room previously, everyone begins to panic and soon they all start to lose their marbles.

Kill is a real chore to sit through. Nothing about this film is original. We have seen this movie before in films like Saw and Cube. No one understands why they are in this room, locked up. Someone goes crazy, someone turns into an asshole, we've seen it all before. While there are a few tidbits that made it original such as when they all wake up, they see pictures of their loved ones in frames around the house, indicating that someone has taken or killed  them but its still not enough to not categorize Kill as an unoriginal mess.

The dialog is hilarious at times too. The "hero" of the movie (whose God-awful and can't act to save his life) suddenly spouts such wisdom like, "The only way we can win this game is by playing by their rules...which I think is bullshit." I also like the asshole character refusing to help someone whose been stabbed by claiming they "may have some fucking disease." It also looked like much or if not all of the dialog was done in post production as not all of the actors lines match with what they are saying.

What is up with these Tiki men in their large masks? Is this suppose to be scary or creepy? It looked so cartoonish and silly, I couldn't stop giggling at how dumb it looked. When we see a guy with a tiki mask pop up into frame on one of the video cameras, I busted a gut over that. Not to mention, these guys made no sense. Why even have them in the movie at all? It would have been more interesting and scarier if we never saw these guys at all.

There is also very little blood, no nudity (even though we get a shower scene) and the film just drags on and on. Although it is only 90 minutes long, it felt like 190 minutes. Hell, even the title Kill is dumb. Kill? Really? With two guys directing they couldn't come up with a better title?

The DVD does come with commentary and a trailer but who gives a shit.
