Review by Adam Bielawski

Over the past few years we have seen many zombies' related movies hit the theaters or straight to home viewing. All these movies, more or less, have the same theme -- zombies want to eat brains. Since the original zombie movie, Night of the Living Dead, zombie phenomena began and fans cannot get enough of the creatures. Now a new zombie movie comes out on April 18, 2008 for a limited run in theaters. The movie has it all "Zombies" and "Strippers." What could any teenage boy want more but Zombie Strippers! The title says it all, honestly, you probably do not need to see this movie because already, in the last second, you have formulated the plot (and I would say you are correct). I'm not saying that Zombie Strippers is a great or bad movie, it border lines being what is expected. Some things to note that is great in the movie, the casting of horror icon Robert Englund, to most known as Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm series movies. Other noted personalizes include Roxy Saint as the second lead stripper or zombie who really puts on a fun packed role... and of course the show stopper celebrity in this movie who is the main feature on the poster, the woman who propelled P()O()R()Nto main stream American, Jenna Jameson. Now I have to give my kudos to the Sony Pictures marketing arm of this movie. The movie poster is awesome, it rocks, a true collector piece of movie memorabilia. If this movie would have never made it to theater, even if for a limited run, the movie poster would not have the same conceived impact, the poster itself tells a story. I'm not sure if this is considered a grind house type movie poster, which I only recently was educated on the term (about a year ago) by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez film, that being said, the movie poster is creative, colorful, sexy, horrorific and it just kicks ass to put on your wall (these days better go under glass). I know you will have at least one sale here for the poster.

The basic plot by Sony's press release is as follows, "When a secret government agency lets out a deadly chemo virus causing the reanimation of the dead, the first place to get hit is Rhino's, a hot underground strip club. As one of the strippers (Jenna Jameson), gets the virus, she turns into a supernatural, flesh-eating zombie stripper, making her the hit of the club. The rest of the girls fight the temptation to be like the star stripper, even if there is not turning back? Also featuring is Roxy Saint and Ultimate Fighting Champion Tito Ortiz, Zombie Strippers is a sexy, bloody, hilarious good time!"

Noting the premise once more, a small conservative town in Nebraska where a military government testing facility leaks out a chemical that turns soldiers into Super Zombie soldiers. A military base and a strip joint usually go hand in hand. Any military person or veteran can answer to this fact. Military town and strip club go hand in hand and of course do not forget the tattoo parlor.

I thought that Zombie Strippers was a fun filled "B" movie and not to be taken as some great feature film, many teen-age boys will race to see this flick. The movie begins with several minutes of build up going after an anti-George Bush campaign. Throughout the movie you will catch a ton of political pokes even noting that in the near future George Bush is 4th term president, oh how that will rile some folks. However, if you planned on catching high budget production or a story this is not it. Again stating, the movie title says it all, zombies, tits and ass. Majority of the movie is filmed around strippers who get zombiefied dancing on stage working the strip pole at a club called Rhinos. All the club patrons just cannot get enough of the girls who have been turned, first Jenna, then Roxy and one by one the rest. One of the strippers who tried competing who was not turned was quickly booed by the patrons, only to have the brain hungry turned strippers to perform. Stripping and gore really energizes a room in this flick.

Some entertaining little pieces in this flick are when Tito Ortiz who plays one of the bouncers (I figure they cast Tito because he probably won't let Jenna out of his sight) hides when the zombies come out to play, other words, the zombiefied stripper would choose one of the club patrons and feast on the brains. If anyone really took the performance to heart it would be Roxy Saint (who also has a band called Roxy Saint and the Blackouts). Roxy is just not a stripper but a Goth hate the world, stripper. Then you have the creature feature icon Robert Englund, Rhino's club owner who has some compulsive disorder about talking and touching the girls. He always has his disincentive spray can ready when communicating with any of the girls. Creepy and perverted is his role, a club owner who knows that strippers equal money. Throughout the movie one liners fly all over the place, at times you are not paying attention to the girls dancing around the club, which is 90% of this movie, but the cheesy one liners thrown out by Robert Englund and the janitor (Paco) played by Joey Medina.

Quick summary, 1 hour of strippers who turn to zombies, plenty of boobs... the movie is ready for late night screening where you are there to party more than get involved with the plot. The youngsters will most likely rent this and keep it hidden for private viewing away from their parents. The movie is classic zombie fun...with a great poster.
