Girl in a Coma Hittin’ the Groove!

Girl in a Coma Hittin’ the Groove!
National Museum of Mexican Art - Chicago, IL, USA - June 26, 2009
by Anita Maree Lande

Chicagoland fans of Girl in a Coma packed the National Museum of Mexican Art for a night of energy-buzzing rock-n-roll. As the trio took stage, the rumble of the crowd was anxious to hear new songs off their latest Blackheart Record's release -Trio B.C. and songs from their stellar break-out 2007 CD - Both Before I'm Gone. Phanie Diaz - drummer and Jenn Alva - bassist were crashing with energy while lead singer/guitarist Nina Diaz was over-the-edge displaying her huge vocals on new songs like Bb, Static Mind, El Monte, and Pleasure and Pain. But the packed crowd could not forget songs from their debut CD. As soon as Nina started plucking away at Clumsy Sky or rolled into the Say the fist started punching up.

Girl in a Coma is a definitive, must-see, unique live band that is currently on tour traveling the U.S. The trio is serious fun with that raw energy mix.
