Fall Out Boy

You know you're in for one crazy show when you see that 'Dirty,' FOB's court jester-like buddy is listed on the bill of artists for the night. The concert starts off with Dirty coming out to rile up the crowd. His first of three stunts involves pulling up 3 lucky and worthy fans from the front row of the pit. They are to come up on stage and slap Dirty in the face as hard as possible. When one of the FOB stagehands doesn't think that any one of the three hit Dirty hard enough, he takes a large step into a very solid and thunderous slap! Next Dirty decides he would like a pool cue broken over his ass, so that same stagehand winds up, swings as hard as possible, and wallops Dirty with perfect form. Dirty proceeded to grab his hind quarters promptly, and try to walk it off while cringing. It only took him a few seconds, before grabbing a beer from one of his colleagues, and chugging it. That must have helped the pain, because he decided he wasn't done yet. Now he wanted to be pile-driven onto the top of a table... in hopes that it would break. So another one of FOB's stagehands picks Dirty up and over his shoulder, takes a couple of steps, and tosses Dirty into the air, and onto the top of the table. Dirty's back smashes right through the table, and the crowd erupts with laughter and applause.

In the midst of all of Dirty's crazy stunts, a green Teletubby came out to see how Dirty was doing...and once the head was ripped off the Teletubby, we all saw that it was FOB frontrunner Pete Wentz. The crowd again got a good chuckle out of this, but were ready to see their 'hometown heroes' rock the house. This house was the Metro for the night, and a venue that my be too small for the likes of a band like Fall Out Boy at this point in their careers. But the crowd received the Chicago boys very well, and realized that they may never get the chance to see a band of FOB's notoriety at such an intimate place like the Metro again. Pete even visited this subject in the middle of the concert, when he stopped to say thanks, and tell the crowd that just a few short years ago they used to strive to play at the Metro just once. They have officially surpassed the Metro, and other venues much bigger... and even venues all around the world for that matter!

After about 10 minutes of the mess that their buddy Dirty is, FOB came out to a screaming mass that was ready to celebrate their Valentines Day with their favorite Chicago sweethearts. Pete gave one of his adoring fans in the front of the pit a great thrill when he took the Valentine, intended for him, out of her hand, and read it aloud to the fans in attendance. Even though this concert offered a little less emotion than we are used to seeing from the fellas, it still presented the ever-present quirks of one of their shows, and could still be considered a respectable show that lasted 17 songs. With a few songs off the new CD, the guys of Fall Out Boy were able to satisfy the crowds need to hear the new songs from Infinity On High, while still paying enough attention to classic FOB hits such as 'Saturday.'

They head out now on a much bigger tour, the 'Honda Civic Tour,' with much bigger acts supporting them including '+44' and 'The Academy Is,' and end back at the place where the chaos all began, the Windy City. They are set to play shows on back-to-back days in the middle of June at Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island.
