Macy Gray Review of new video and song, Sugar Daddy.

Macy Gray Review of her upcoming video, Sugar Daddy.

By Maja Rios

Sugar Daddy” was co-written by Macy and fellow Grammy®-Award winning American singer and songwriter Meghan Trainor, alongside Bianca “Blush” Atterberry, Tommy “TB Hits” Brown and Thomas Lumpkins, and serves as the perfect taster of what’s to come from Macy Gray and her highly anticipated full-length RUBY.

Directed by Christian Lamb and shot at Pour Vous in Los Angeles, the video stars Macy Gray alongside Evan Ross, and is inspired by his legendary mother Diana Ross’ portrayal of Billie Holiday in the 1972 biographical classic “Lady Sings The Blues.”

Macy Gray is not one of my favorite singers. She looks good, has great visual style, but alas no voice and rarely stays in tune. However, due to pro-tools, she sounds fairly good on Sugar Daddy, a cute easy song, with a catchy groove. Nice video too. One of her better songs since it has very few notes but is catchy! She does good when songs are kept simple.
