San Francisco dream pop group Sentinel has released "Counting Stars" as the second single off their fifth independent studio album, Points of Light.
Focusing on constellations in the stars as a form of connectedness to the universe, Points of Light explains we are all individuals tied together by fate, love, struggle, and loss to shape our stories. Conceptual lyric themes running deep within this album include: recognition of California Native Americans, lost romances and lifestyles, overcoming and dealing with self-esteem, human potentials, human interconnectedness, nature and divinity.
Strongly influenced by 80's synth and 90's dream pop, Sentinel uses dreamy female vocals, steady guitar lines, and arching harmonies to create their full, flourishing sound that shines throughout the album. With Points of Light, the band continues to establish their presence with a long catalog of moods and textures.
